Vim is a text editor and is a clone of Bill Joy's vi editor for unix. It's initial release was in 1991 and is very popular.

I've had several people ask me what tools I use to write code. I especially like Vim however Atom is another great editor I really like to use. We'll get to Atom later. Today we'll look at Vim and some basic features of it.

In the below video I'm using Windows with a putty session open to my server. However all the commands should work the same in any OS or any version of Vim. Check it out below.

Future

I'm looking to create more screencasts in the future. This was just a warm up to get use to working with my software. Please let me know in the comments below if you think it's useful.
